Re: should Romney court Deadheads like Obama did? |
Well, Jerry clearly wasn't a fan of Reagan. At the very end, from about 21:29:
Brent: Last thing before we close, do you have a message for America?
Jerry: Um, ah, take care of yourself, everybody stay calm -- um, for god's sake, don't vote for actors anymore.

His thoughts on the matter are quite a bit different now, but nuanced and non-kneejerk as always, and he's certainly able to respect other opinions:
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/John_Perry_Barlow As for whether Romney should court Deadheads ... um, why? Fans of a band that hasn't been around for 17 years are somehow an important voting bloc? Methinks not. But I assume there are at least some people on his team who do or did appreciate the music. Or some of it. At least Money Money. Well, I don't know which sites those are, but I agree the band had a lefty slant. They were around for so long I'm sure their opinions changed a bunch over the course of time. I could care less about their politics as long as they keep (kept) it offstage, which when Garcia was around they did most of the time.
Hey jots, if we have a mutual email friend I would love to know what sites there are of potential mockery. Anyone may give jots my particulars if needs be. I'll just lurk, so no worries about me screwing the pooch.
